Wisconsin Farm Technology Days

June 20-22, a farm just south of River Falls was host to a huge farm exposition. It has been a big deal in town for quite a few months. They expected about 80,000 people to attend during the three-day period. Shae was in charge of coming up with a booth about severe weather for the Family Adventure Tent. This tent was designed for younger children about 6 to 12 years old. Things went well the first to days of the expo. The third day however, it rained some during the night, we almost got stuck getting to the parking spot which was in an alfalfa field. After we got to the tent it started to rain and it rained very hard for some time. Gradually, the wood chip base of the tent turned into a lake with wood chips floating on the surface. It was quite the event. The same thing was happening through much of the 100-acre tent city. It stopped raining about 11:00, but they had to cancel the rest of the expo. We left the truck in the parking area until about 5 p.m. and went back to see if we might be able to drive it out of the parking lot. We never would have made it then if there hadn't been a tractor to pull it out to the road. I guess the whole expo was a demonstration of severe weather. Way to go Shae!

They dug a soil pit for the event. After the storm it was almost completely filled with water and wood chips. The water depth in the middle of the pit was about 5 feet.

Quick Trip to Utah, Missouri

Near the end of June and the beginning of July, Don made a quick trip to Utah and then drove with Dan, Rachel, and Becca to Missouri to help Dan and Rachel move to Warrensburg, Missouri, where Dan plan on attending Central Missouri University. We had a fun time getting together with the families in Utah and Idaho.

New Babies and a Trip to Idaho and Utah

We recently returned from a great trip to Utah and Idaho. It was the first time Shae and Don had seen Mark and Tiffany's new baby, Grace. We spent several days with Mark and Tiffany in Twin Falls, Idaho then a week in Utah.

Patricia stayed some extra days to help with Dave and Jana's new baby Jasher. We had a great time, but were especially happy to spend time with our children and grandchildren.

Kelli's graduated from high school and exchange student from Switzerland

For the past week we have had a student from Switzerland staying with us. His name is Valentin L'Eplattenier from the small town of Bussigny. His native tongue is French and he doesn't speak English very well, so communication is interesting. He is a nice kid and seems to be enjoying it here. He especially likes baseball and disc golf both of which are not common in Switzerland. He will be with us for about two more weeks.

Kelli graduated from high school on June 7 and then left a few days later to spend the summer with Becca in Provo. Becca and Jana came back for Kelli's graduation party and graduation. It was great.
